The main focus of this project was to create a cafe/venue with branding connected to a specific music genre. I created The Sonata, a cafe and venue for artists and people interested in the genre of Western classical music. I was challenged to design a typeface + branding that portrays the elegance and versatility of classical music. Something very peculiar about this genre is that it goes to both extremes: very dramatic and intense, or soft and relaxing. The solution I came up with was to design a typeface that was both sharp and rounded to represent the versatility of Western classical music.

Sketches
Through my process I was exploring with movement. I was looking for a feel of majesty and elegance.
Logo Iterations
After setteling on the typeface I moved on to exploring additional elements that would work well with the typeface and the brand.
I decided to go with organic lines that resemble the movement that the conductor makes with the baton when directing the musicians.
